JEFF TINGEY
INTERIM ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
Dear Bengals,
Almost every one of our student-athletes has a good and interesting account about how they found their way to Idaho State University. But more importantly, they now have tales of their time as student-athletes at ISU that detail their experience while getting an education and competing athletically on a national level.
For the most part, our student-athletes can attribute their financial support here at Idaho State University to people like you and your investment in athletic scholarship funding. Your involvement in "The Bengal 300" is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to continue their support for our amazing student-athletes as we strive to provide more opportunities for them to succeed both in the competitive arena and in the classroom.
Once again, I would like to personally thank each of you for your dedication to ISU Athletics. I would also like to thank "The Bengal 300" Auction Committee for their relentless dedication to the completion of the event.
Now...Sit back, relax, and have a good time! GO BENGALS!
Jeff Tingey
Interim Athletic Director

BILL CODE
BENGAL FOUNDATION PRESIDENT
Thank you for attending the Bengal Auction. You are helping the Bengal Foundation raise money for a very noble cause. All of the money raised will go to funding student-athlete scholarships. Bengal athletics is alive and thriving thanks to donors like you. We have worked hard to obtain items that will intrigue auction goers. If you see something that you like, please place a bid. This is a fun way to raise money for scholarships as well as get the competitive juices flowing. A heartfelt "Thank You" goes out to all of you that keep Bengal athletics striving to be the best.

MARI TUSCH & DEB THOMPSON
2009 BENGAL FOUNDATION
AUCTION CO-CHAIRS
Welcome Race Fans! The BENGAL 300 is ready to roar to the finish line.
Please join us in recognizing our honorary chairs: The late Don Papenberg and his lovely wife, Sylvia, both long time supporters of Bengal Athletics. Please take time to read their special page in this brochure to learn of their many contributions to ISU Athletics.
This year’s auction is filled with many exciting items in all price ranges. There will be something for every budget and taste. We are especially appreciative of our many donors who gave generously in these tough economic times.
We are honored this year to have our very own Jared Allen come to auction his I.S.U. football locker. He’ll even personalize it for you. Choose from many great trips and condos, including a week in the fabulous Mai condo in Hawaii, travel with the teams, take flying lessons, golf or ski in several locations. You can join President & Dr. Vailas for a pregame tailgate and much, much more.
This event could not happen without the support of many local fans and businesses who generously donate the items you will be bidding on. Please watch for their names in the brochure and say "Thank You" when you have a chance.
A special "Thank You" goes out to the many committee members who worked so hard to bring you this fun and worthwhile event.

GO BENGALS!

SYLVIA AND *DON L. PAPENBERG
HONORARY CHAIRS
The Idaho State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics along with the Bengal Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to recognize Sylvia and the late Don Papenberg as our honorary auction chairs.
Sylvia grew up in Wilson, Wyoming and the beautiful Teton Valley of Idaho. She graduated from Teton High School in Driggs, Idaho in 1960 and enrolled at Idaho State University. Sylvia studied and majored in Physical Education at ISU. She played softball, volleyball and basketball in the University’s club and intramural systems. During that time she met Don who was playing football for Idaho State. Don was inducted into the ISU Sports Hall of Fame in 1992.
Both Sylvia and Don taught school for many years. Sylvia taught physical education and business classes and Don taught and coached at North Fremont High School from 1964-1967 and at Boise High School from 1967-1971. Sylvia went into the banking business in 1983. She worked in loan operations, was an Operations Supervisor of a Business Banking Center and an Operations Officer of an independent bank. After Don’s teaching and coaching career he started as the Administrator of the Idaho Dairy Products Commission in 1971. In 1974 the Papenbergs lived in California where Don served as the Director of marketing and Assistant Manager of the California Milk Advisory Board. In 1981 after moving back to Idaho, Don became the Administrator for the United Dairymen of Idaho. Don developed a program benefitting the youth of Idaho. He established the joint venture between the United Dairymen of Idaho and the Idaho High School Activities Association. Don was instrumental in the implementation of the "Got Milk" advertising campaign and was instrumental in developing the strong relationship between the United Dairymen and Idaho State University. Sylvia and Don loved their Bengals and were not only generous supporters but attended as many athletic events as possible. Don "Pappy" to all who knew him was honored with the William J. Bartz Award in 1998 for his extraordinary support of Idaho State University. The Papenbergs have meant so much to the athletic department. Pappy was serving on the Bengal Foundation Board of Directors at the time of his death in January 2008. He was involved with the annual fund drive and auction. He always had a smile and a story to share. Sylvia stepped into his position and completed his term.
Sylvia and Don made the decision together to make a lead gift to construct Miller Ranch Stadium and later, Papenberg Field. The Papenbergs gifted 40 acres of property near Teton Springs to ISU. The property had been in Sylvia’s family for many years and was originally part of her parents’ 600-acre ranch, Miller Ranch. Sylvia has maintained her strong ties with Idaho State University and the athletic programs. She is still a member of the Bengal Foundation and has a special interest in the ISU Women’s Softball Team. You can find Sylvia sitting center court and field at all of the ISU Men’s Basketball games and Football games.
Thank you Sylvia & Pappy!
